Prostate Cancer Support Groups

Prostate Cancer Support Canada is a network of prostate cancer support groups across Canada dedicated to ensuring that men and their families affected by prostate cancer can easily get in touch with a support group or support person – no matter where they live.

Our support groups bring together people who are going through, or have already gone through, the experience of being diagnosed with prostate cancer, navigating the many treatment options, and managing the different chronic side effects that may accompany treatment.

Support groups provide an opportunity for individuals, and their support people or partners, to share their personal experiences and to receive emotional support from others in the group. Many groups also offer educational opportunities by inviting guest speakers to their monthly meetings, including healthcare professionals, counsellors, researchers, and other experts, to speak on topics related to prostate cancer treatment, research, improving quality of life pre- and post-treatment, and coping.

Being part of a support group offers many benefits to the individuals who get involved. For some, support groups fill the gap between medical care and the need for expanded emotional support. For others, support groups are a safe place to receive practical feedback on their treatment options. But most importantly, support groups are a powerful way to learn through collective experience and gain a sense of empowerment over living with prostate cancer.
